Park Querini
Via Rodolfi, Via Rumor, 36100 Vicenza, Italy
Description:
In the northeastern part of the historic core of the city, north of the Olimpico Theatre is one of the most important parks of the city of Vincenza, a quiet green oasis in the very center. Querini Park is one of the most popular places for walks, recreation and sports among city residents.
The name comes from the Palace of Querini, located in a park near the Church of St. Mark. In addition to the palace, the park is decorated with such interesting buildings as a gazebo in the classical style of Antonio Piovene (1820) and the Church of Santa Maria in Araceli. The church was built between 1672 and 1680 by the architect Guarino Guarini and consecrated in 1743. From the Palace of Querini to the gazebo leads a boulevard planted with numerous trees, decorated with statues of the classical sample.
The park was opened to the public in 1971 when it became the property of the Count Redzar family.
On both sides the park is surrounded by the Baquillone River and its tributaries. On the third side, the park was previously surrounded by a Venetian-style fortress wall (now Rodolfi Avenue).
