Haifa

Haifa and the beauty of the north.

Description:

We will begin our route in Lower Haifa, a German colony built in the late 19th century by German Protestants who believed that by cultivating the Holy Land they were bringing the coming of the Messiah closer. It is thanks to these hardworking German colonists that the first stagecoaches, fire guards and ambulances appear in Ottoman Palestine. However, at the beginning of World War II, the British Mandate expelled the Germans from the Land of Israel as citizens of an enemy state.

Climbing almost to the very top of Mount Carmel, we will visit the amazing church of Stella Maris Monastery. An amazing place where the Prophet Elijah and Napoleon visited, where on the walls of the church there are memorial plaques that commemorate prominent Catholics, including the Catholic nun Edith Stein, PhD of Jewish origin. The Nazis tortured her at Auschwitz. On the memorial plaque in the church (!!!) - barbed wire and the stars of David.

From the monastery we will go to the central terrace of the Baha'i gardens, which are rightly considered the pearl of Haifa. That's the expanse for a photographer! What a view of the bay!

After strolling through the Baha'i gardens and visiting the tomb of the Bab, the founder of the Baha'i tradition, we will go to the "extreme north" in the caves of Rosh A-Nikra. Stunning coastal grottoes, washed by sea waves for millions of years

Now, intoxicated with the clean sea air, we will take a short walk through old Acre and, having tasted the wonderful fragrant Arabic coffee, complete our route.
