Ubaidia Archaeological Monument

Haifa, Israel

Description:

The archaeological site of Ubaidia in Israel is the ruins of an ancient city. In this country, such finds are not uncommon, as for this particular place, it was discovered in 1959. Archaeologists did a great job before they managed to find a real treasure in one of the caves – hand axes, which confirmed their guesses that it was here that primitive people migrated from Africa more than a million and a half years ago.

This discovery cannot be underestimated, because it vividly demonstrates the period of the great glaciation, in which Neanderthals, trying to survive in difficult climatic conditions, competed with the early representatives of modern humanity, which were Cro-Magnons, and this struggle was not in their favor. As a result, this ancient people became extinct.

There is an archaeological monument Ubaidiya in the Haifa area - the nearest settlement of Beit Zera, you can get to it both by personal vehicles and public. But then there may be difficulties with movement, because directly to the ancient city is not laid a route of any type of public transport, here you will have to turn to the help of private carriers, or catch a ride, however, locals are often willing to take tourists.
