Ancient city of Gamla
Description:
Gamla Nature Reserve in the central part of the Golan Heights is a beautiful combination of nature, landscape and historical monuments. It is home to a unique number of predators due to its small size, including rare species, and one of the oldest synagogues in the world. Dozens of pairs of bald peeps nest on the rocks of Gamla, the largest colony in the country.
Visitors can watch the vultures fly from an observation station on the edge of a cliff. Another observation deck overlooks the 50-meter Gamla Falls, the highest in Israel. On the way to the waterfall are dolmens - massive table-shaped stone tombstones built by nomads about 4,000 years ago. Some of the trails of the Gamla reserve are suitable for families, some for experienced tourists. We pass the canyon and waterfalls of the Bazalet Creek, the northern tributary of the Daliyot Creek.
