Mount Carmel
Northern part of Israel, near the city of Haifa
Description:
Mount Carmel in Israel is one of the most visited places by tourists. Getting there is convenient because the eponymous ridge is actually part of the city of Haifa. It even houses a city television tower and one of the world’s best technical universities. But this is not what attracts pilgrims, of course. In the mountain there are many karst caves, in which people settled for many thousands of years BC. In one of these caves lived the Old Testament prophet Elijah, known for his zealous faith in God. Now there is a monastery here. In general, the entire Carmel Range is a large reserve, which is called the local Switzerland for its unique natural landscapes. You can get here directly from Haifa, there are even several residential blocks for wealthy people on the mountain.
