Museum of Illegal Immigration Camp

Highway 2, Atlit, Haifa, Israel

About the company:

The Museum of Illegal Immigration in Atlit presents an exhibition that completely restores the camp built by the British in 1938 for Jews who came to Palestine illegally. In the museum you can understand and feel the tragic history of the struggle of immigrants for their rights, their escapes and the rescue of prisoners.

The museum-camp keeps on its territory the same situation that prevailed in those days: there are buses for the transportation of illegal immigrants, and next to them - British soldiers. All vehicles are fenced with barbed wire. There are barracks where Jews lived. In one barracks lived 100 people, they were not divided into women and men, and were common to all. You can also look at disinfection machines of clothing, shared showers, water heater, as well as the internal atmosphere in the barracks.

The museum operates daily, and on Saturdays and holidays, only group tours by record are given.
