The Dead Sea

Judean desert

Judaean Desert, Dead Sea Israel

Description:

In the center of the land of Israel lies Judea with a mountain range (the Jewish Desert of Israel the Dead Sea). This is where Jesus went after his baptism in Jordan.

There are not many dunes here, but there are countless rocks and steep gorges. There are some river beds that can be filled with water a couple of times a year.

In spring, humid air can come, which is why the desert will be decorated with grass and wildflowers even before the hot summer begins. The region varies greatly in altitude, which gradually increases to 1020 meters south of Hebron and 30 km southwest of Jerusalem, then decreases 400 meters below sea level in the eastern part of Jericho and the Dead Sea.
