Popular Questions and Answers

Answer: Three key sites stand out on the coast: the ancient fortress of Masada, built by Herod the Great in the first century BC, the biblical oasis of Ein Gedi with waterfalls and caves, and the Qumran reserve, where the Dead Sea Scrolls are found. These monuments are included in the UNESCO World Heritage List and are associated with the era of the Second Temple. Unique salt formations and therapeutic mud complement the natural attractions of the region.

What to see in The Dead Sea

The Dead Sea is a unique natural and historical place on the border of the Judean Desert, where biblical legends and modern resorts intersect. It is the lowest place on the planet, surrounded by harsh cliffs and ancient trails; the atmosphere here is both harsh and healing, and salt water and mineral mud make the region attractive for travelers from all over the world.

Manufactures and facilities

Among the man-made attractions are the Massada fortress with its heroic history and archaeological excavations, the ruins of the settlements of Qumran, where the famous scrolls were found, and museum expositions telling about life in these parts. There are factories and shops of Dead Sea cosmetics on the coast, and the landscaped beaches of Mineral, Ein Gedi and Sveima offer comfortable rest and traditional spa treatments. On the way from Jerusalem there is a zero level of altitude, which has become a popular stop for tourists.

Natural attractions and places

The natural attractions of the region are no less impressive: the canyons of Tmarim, Thor, Parsa and Darya (Nakhal Dragot) give extreme landscapes and opportunities for hiking, and the Judean desert offers endless views and ancient trails. The Ein Gedi Oasis with living springs, the Qumran Gorge and the Lota Cave add historical and natural flavor to the route, and the Dead Sea itself with its unusual flora and fauna and healing mud remains a magnet for those who want to feel the uniqueness of this place.

Build routes and visit interesting places

On our site you can see all these attractions on an interactive map, read brief descriptions of each object and build the optimal route. Mark the points of interest, calculate the distance and travel time, compare the beaches and routes along the canyons to make a convenient and safe travel program.

You can explore the Dead Sea on your own, following the prepared routes and information cards, or book excursions with local guides. Professional guides will help to understand the historical context of Qumran and Massada, show the best observation decks and safe paths in the canyons, and talk about the traditions and therapeutic properties of local mud and salt waters.

Come to the Dead Sea to experience the ease of swimming on the surface of the water, see sunsets over desert rocks and walk along ancient trails. Discover these attractions, plan routes and go on a trip that will be remembered for a long time.
