Aral Sea

The lake is located on the border of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan

Description:

The Aral Sea was one of the five largest lakes in the world. In 1960, the water level began to decline rapidly due to the construction of obstacles in the form of dams of its feeding rivers. One of the main reasons is the watering of agricultural fields from the Syrdarya and Amu Darya rivers.

Scientists and others are now trying to save the lake by artificially filling the lake with water. Many tourists come here to view empty ships in the steppe. You can get to the lake from Tashkent, from there by train to Nukus, or by car about 8 hours drive.
