Day of Republic of Kazakhstan

Description:

Presidential Palace, Astana
The Republic Day is associated with a historical date - the assertion of the sovereignty of Kazakhstan. On October 25, 1990, the Supreme Soviet of the Kazakh SSR adopted the Declaration “On State Sovereignty of the Kazakh SSR”, which became a turning point in the development of the country.

The Declaration solemnly proclaimed the creation of a democratic, socially oriented and rule of law state. For the first time, Kazakhstan declared itself as a unique subject, having its own worldview, individual customs, traditions, as well as a vision of its future development.

The declaration laid the foundations for the independence of Kazakhstan’s statehood. It fixed all the attributes of real sovereignty of Kazakhstan: its own territory and citizenship; independence and completeness of state power; state budget; independence in international relations, classical symbols of state sovereignty - the coat of arms, flag, anthem, as well as its own national currency.

The state sovereignty of Kazakhstan and the inviolability of its territory were ensured by political, legal and economic guarantees.

The Declaration of State Sovereignty of 1990 fixed the constitutional and legal status of Kazakhstan as a full-fledged subject of international law.

Kazakhstan independently began to change the socio-political system, taking a course to build a democratic society based on a liberal market economy. In fact, this act laid the foundation of a new state on the world map - the future Republic of Kazakhstan.

The historical significance of the Declaration lies in the fact that it became the basis for the development of the Constitution of Kazakhstan of 1993 and 1995 and other legislative acts. The adoption of the Constitutional Law “On State Independence of the Republic of Kazakhstan” of December 16, 1991 finally completed the constitutional formalization of the formation of our country as an independent and independent state.

Therefore, the event that served as the source of a new form of statehood is national in scale. The Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 13, 2001 No. 267 "On Holidays in the Republic of Kazakhstan" included this day in the list of public holidays.
