Day of Languages of Kazakhstan
Description:
The festival of languages of the peoples of Kazakhstan is celebrated in a multinational republic. Within the framework of the festival, which symbolizes unity and harmony between peoples, concerts of masters of art, competitions for knowledge of languages, round tables and scientific conferences are held.
Mira Magamedi is Iranian by nationality. The teacher of Russian language and literature decided to take part in the competition for knowledge of the Kazakh language. On the stage, Mira mixed up verses, but the jury awarded her the highest points. She won the competition with her love of singing and dancing, as well as her knowledge of folklore. In her lessons, she often compares proverbs and sayings of the Russian and Kazakh peoples. Mira calls herself, first of all, a Kazakhstani and says: I think the state language should be at a high level. Every citizen must study it.”
This year, the Ministry of Culture together with the Assembly of Peoples of Kazakhstan held a telethon dedicated to the development of the state language. The same topic was discussed at scientific conferences. Scientists do not exclude that the national alphabet will be translated into Latin script.
Galiya Abilova, Head of the Department of Normative and Linguistic Problems of the Department for Language Development of the Ministry of Culture of Kazakhstan: “A round table “State Language and Computer” will be held within the framework of this festival, which will address the problems of font in the Kazakh language.”
Today, Uzbek, Uyghur, Tajik and Ukrainian national schools operate in the republic. Eleven national languages are studied in more than a hundred educational institutions of the country. The purpose of the festival is not only its development. In 2007, office work in Kazakhstan was fully translated into the state language. And perfect possession of it for Kazakhstanis will become a necessity.
