The riverbed below the Capchagai hydroelectric power station passes among the rocky mountains of the canyon, the relief of which fascinates and the inaccessibility of approaches to it attracts and limits many to visit it.
When rafting, you can enjoy these rocky landscapes plenty. You can also dock and walk to several attractions available on the shores of Ili. On the eastern shore, these are rock paintings “Tamgalytas” painted several centuries ago by Buddhist monks. And on the west bank to the “ancient castle of nomads” – scenery on which several famous films “Nomad”, “Night Watch”, etc. were shot.
When rafting, it is also impossible not to see the camp of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan. This is a fairly large area that is a training ground for rescuers. For it to practice heterogeneous actions brought real but not working equipment helicopters, cars, etc.
There are traces of a shipwreck in the riverbed of Ili. The sunken barge is the indisputable evidence that can be observed when rafting.
