Lake Balkhash
Description:
Balkhash is the largest lake in Kazakhstan. Balkhash is unique in that one part of the lake is salty and the other is fresh. Balkhash resembles a crescent in shape.
You can get to the lake in several ways.
By bus from the city of Balkhash to the villages of Chubar-Tyubek and Torangaly. By train to st. Balkhash-1 and Balkhash-2. On regular flights from Karaganda to Balkhash. By private car or taxi on the M36 highway.
The swimming season lasts all summer. Popular fishing and underwater hunting, kayaking. The infrastructure is represented by various recreation centers.
There are many festivals here. There are archaeological sites open to the public.
