An architectural monument dedicated to the development of virgin lands. In honor of the 30th anniversary of the development of virgin and deposit lands, on October 13, 1984, a monument to the “Conquerors of virgin land” was opened on Komsomolskaya Square (Tselinnikov Square). November 10, 1976, after the All-Union competition, where the idea of solving the monument was approved, the creative group was entrusted with the right to perpetuate the feat of virgins. The authors are the main sculptor of the monument – M.B. Smirnov and the sculptor – A.P. Semenov. All elements of the monument in clay are made in Moscow, then in Minsk. Belarusian specialists performed in the material “arrow”, “first furrow”. Figures of sowers and ribbons of Glory were cast in bronze at the Leningrad plant "Monument-sculpture". In Almaty, a load-bearing structure was developed, and installation and granite works were performed by masters of Moscow, Kustanay and Ore. The monument consists of three figures and a long fluttering ribbon, rising on the trapezoidal shape of the volume. Sculptures of young men personify sowers, girls - land managers walking along the first furrow. Behind them flutters a ribbon with the image of wheat ears. On the ribbon of glory from the east and south there are images of all stages of the virgin epic: from the first furrow, to the first victory, the first harvest. Figures of sowers and girls, as well as the ribbon of Glory are cast in bronze. The base is lined with granite slabs. The square is paved with concrete plates.
