Pavlodar

Bayanaul National Park

Bayanaul district, Pavlodar region, Kazakhstan

Description:

The rich vegetation of the park is represented by four natural zones - forest, forest-steppe, steppe and meadow. In total, there are about 460 species of plants - 50 of them are relict plants, for example, Bayanaul pine (grows mainly on rocks, creating an interesting combination of vegetation and stone) and stone currants.

The fauna of the park consists of 50 species of birds and 40 species of animals, arhars listed in the Red Book, as well as a group of beaver game, are of particular value.

Bayanaul Mountains are located in the center of the Asian continent and therefore have a continental climate. The average annual temperature here is 3.2C, the average temperature in January is 13.7C, in July - 14.6C.

Here is the Goose Bind - a unique monument of nature. Paleontologists have discovered the bones of giraffes, rhinos, hyena-like animals, and hipparirions (small tridactyl horses) that lived 7 to 10 million years ago – apparently the total number of fossils is thousands of species.

In the park there are four picturesque freshwater lakes - Sabyndykol, Jasybay, Toraigyr and Byrzhankol, as well as several smaller lakes.
