Kyrgyz State Historical Museum

Ala-Too Square, Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan

About the company:

One of the main attractions of Bishkek is the Kyrgyz State Historical Museum - one of the largest in Central Asia. It was founded in 1926 as the first research institution in Kyrgyzstan. The museum is located on Ala-Too Square, near the government house. The first exhibition was opened on March 5, 1927. Currently, the area of the museum is 8000 square meters, on which about 90,000 samples are placed. Among them are exhibits telling about the primitive communal, slaveholding, feudal and present system, as well as about nomadic peoples, their crafts and agriculture. The large hall of the museum is occupied by an exhibition dedicated to the history of the emergence of cities.

Of particular interest to tourists are the expositions related to the collection of women's jewelry of the XIX-XX centuries, the great migration of peoples and the ethnography of the Kyrgyz people. Most of the exhibitions of the museum are devoted to the themes of the October Revolution in Kyrgyzstan, the Soviet period, as well as the years of the Patriotic War. Many of the local collections are included in the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage List. The museum building deserves special attention - its architecture captures the local flavor - a beautiful dome, decor and lancet windows.
