Victoria Park

66 Causeway Rd, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong

Description:

Until 1950, the park was part of Victoria Harbour, which was used as a parking lot for fishing boats and yachts during typhoons. Now the park includes tennis courts, swimming pool, skating rink, bowling and other sports facilities, as well as playgrounds, swimming pools and ponds. The tennis court is often used for international tennis tournaments.

The park received its current name not immediately, but only after installing a statue of Queen Victoria on the main entrance, which was originally located on Statue Square.

Many events take place here, such as the New Year's Fair, which attracts large crowds until late at night, the Flower Show, City Forums and other political gatherings. The park brings together politicians, academics and prominent public figures to discuss current state issues.

In the summer of 2004, the United Buddy Bears art exhibition was held here under the patronage of Jackie Chan. It was the largest open air ever held in Hong Kong.
