Central Plaza Skyscraper
Central Plaza, 18 Harbour Rd, Wan Chai, Hong Kong
Description:
Central Plaza was the first skyscraper built of reinforced concrete, later the same construction was used in the construction of Citic Plaza in Guangzhou. This skyscraper is a triangle, as it has only three outer walls. The cladding of the building is glass of gold, silver and terracotta shades, which makes an incredible impression - a mixture of elements of wealth and pure minimalism.
The top of the skyscraper is decorated with the largest neon clock in the world, changing its color every 15 minutes. On the upper floors is the city church of Hong Kong, one of the attractions of which is a modern fountain, the height of the jets of which exceeds 2 meters.
The first floor of the skyscraper consists of two parts: a separately located building 368 meters high and a 30-meter “podium” attached to it. Central Plaza itself is divided into three blocks: the 30.5-meter base of the building - it houses the central entrance to the building, followed by 57 floors, on which offices are located, another 11 floors are allocated for technical rooms.
One of the main tasks of engineers and designers was to make a building that can withstand the stormy winds of Hong Kong, since Central Plaza is located in an area that is prone to typhoons. As a result, the Central Plaza skyscraper is able to withstand the most powerful blows of winds.
