Cheng Chau Island
Description:
Cheng Chau ("long island") is a small, densely populated island where the locals have preserved their traditional atmosphere and culture.
The ancient Pak Tai temple is built here, which houses valuable historical religious shrines. Every year in May, the temple hosts an exotic festival of steamed buns - sacrifices to the God of the sea, who is the patron saint of fishing and sailing.
It is a traditional fishing island with picturesque virgin beaches. For a long time, the island was a haven for pirates, so now many tourists visit the caves in the hope of finding pirate treasures.
From Hong Kong to the island can be reached by ferry in half an hour.
