Queen's Square
Queen Square, Hong Kong, China
Description:
Queen's Square in Hong Kong is located in the office part of the city. Its traditional architecture of the XIX century is almost dissonant with the surrounding skyscrapers of glass and concrete. But perhaps that is the beauty of it.
In the past, the square was decorated with statues of Queen Victoria, Prince Albert and others. Another name for this place is Statue Square. During World War II, they were seized by the Japanese army. Over time, only the sculpture of Thomas Jackson, the manager of the Hong Kong and Shanghai banks, returned to his place. A significant accent of the square is the Supreme Court building, made in traditional colonial architecture.
Now the square has become a traditional meeting place for Filipino nannies working for wealthy families in Hong Kong.
