CITIC Tower

Heyuan Mansion, 192号 Lin He Xi Heng Lu, Tian He Qu, Guangzhou, Guangdong, China, 510075

Description:

The CITIC Plaza Tower in Guangzhou is the headquarters of China International Trade and Investment Company CITIC. To place all the offices of the company in one place, it was necessary to build an 80-storey skyscraper 391 meters high. The CITIC Plaza Tower is one of several modern high-rise buildings that shape the modern business center of Guangzhou.

The building was built in 1997 and at that time was the tallest building in the world after the skyscrapers of New York and Chicago. In 2007, this status of the CITIC Plaza tower gave way to the Jin Mao skyscraper in Shanghai and the International Financial Center in Hong Kong. The CITIC Plaza Tower is located in Tianhe district and is part of a complex that includes two more 38-storey residential buildings. Not far from the skyscraper are the new station building and the Tianhe Sports Center, where the sixth national games were held.
