Guangzhou TV Tower

Guangzhou TV Tower is the second tallest TV tower in the world. It was built in 2010 by ARUP for the start of the Asian Games. The height of the TV tower is 610 meters and, in addition to the TV and radio broadcasting studio, there is an observation deck at its top, which is visited by more than ten thousand tourists every month. The architecture of the tower is different from all modern skyscrapers in Guangzhou.

Architect Mark Hemel won the international competition with his unusual project. He proposed not the standard layout of a rectangular skyscraper, but an elegant structure of steel pipes, which resembles an elegant female silhouette. The lower 450 meters of the tower are a hyperboloid mesh shell around the central core base, and the rest of the height is an elegant spire.
