Haikou

Haikou Station

Description:

Haikou railway station became the first station on the island of Hainan, from which trains depart to the mainland of China. This explains its close location to the coastline - only 1 kilometer separates the station from the pier, where the carriages are loaded onto the ferry.

The station was built in 2002 and opened to traffic in April 2003. The station building is not large, it is designed for about 2 thousand passengers. The main colors of the building are blue, white and gray. From a distance, the building looks like a classical Chinese palace. The roof of the station sparkles with blue glazed tiles, a hinged cornice and a light pediment fully correspond to the traditions of local architecture. According to the same tradition, the station premises are separated by courtyards. Everything is arranged in such a way that even being inside the building, you can observe the sky and the clouds.

On the square near the station there is a large electronic scoreboard, which reflects all current information. For the convenience of passengers, 4 waiting rooms, a mother and child room, a room for the elderly, a separate room for military personnel and a VIP lounge are open.
