Jietai Temple
Mentougou District, Beijing, China
Description:
Jietai Temple is located about thirty-five kilometers west of Beijing.
It was built in 622 during the Tang Dynasty, although most of the temple complex dates back to the Qin Dynasty.
The temple has two main attractions. The first is his huge marble altar five meters high, on which Buddhist scriptures are engraved. The second attraction is the very old pines and cypresses growing on the temple grounds. Some trees are over 1,000 years old. Also on its territory is an ancient Japanese pagoda and a 250-year-old lilac bush.
