Within Liulihe Middle School, Fangshan District, Beijing, China

Description:

Xuyun Temple in Fangshan is one of the fairly well-preserved ancient Buddhist temples. It is estimated that this temple was built around the sixth century AD.

The entrance to the temple is a massive metal gate in red, symbolizing wealth and prosperity. A low pagoda is built above the gate.

Xuyun Temple consists of two small rooms. Inside you can see the monks in orange and yellow robes, once a Buddhist monastery. The walls are strewn with hieroglyphs - these are sutras, sacred inscriptions in which parables and dialogues with the Buddha are told.

Photography inside the temple is prohibited for religious reasons.
