Yunju Temple

Shuitou Village, Dashiwo Town, Fangshan District, Beijing, China

Description:

Yunju Temple is located at the western foot of Shijing Mountain 75 kilometers southwest of central Beijing. It was built at the beginning of the VII century. Initially, the temple had six main halls located on the same line from east to west. The extreme halls on the left and right sides served as a hostel for Buddhist monks and living quarters for guests. Also on the territory of the temple there are twelve ancient pagodas and three graves of the Qing dynasty. Unfortunately, most of the temple was destroyed in the 1930s. The temple has now been restored. The main attraction of the temple of Yunju are 14278 ancient stone tablets, which are carved Buddhist scriptures.
