5号 Jing Shan Dong Jie, Dong Cheng Qu, Beijing, China, 100009
Description:
The temples of Songzhu and Zhizhu make up a complex of three temples: the already destroyed Fayuan, the middle temple of Songzhu and the western Zhizhu. The shrines have great historical and cultural significance in the country.
The Songzhu Temple was built during the reign of Emperor Yongzhen in honor of the Buddha and his religious activities in Mongolia. The temple is large and consists of five palaces. It was here that religious Mongolian and Tibetan books were printed to exchange cultural experiences among ethnic groups.
Most of the buildings of both temples have survived. Now they are protected monuments of Beijing and deserve the attention of tourists. Near the temples is the Hilton Beijing Wangfujing Hotel, where you can stay while visiting the temples.
