Beijing Yuetan Park

6 Yuetan North Street, Xicheng District, Beijing, China

Description:

Beijing Yuetan Park was built in 1530. It served as a place where the emperors of the Ming and Qing dynasties sacrificed to the moon god and the stars gods, so the main object in the park is the altar of the moon. The park covers an area of just over eight hectares. It is a classic Chinese garden. The park has many pine trees, cypresses and various decorative plants. Among the architectural attractions can be distinguished the Heavenly Gate, the bell tower, the Lanyue pavilion, the Yuetan Palace, the Jiyue pavilion and the Yuegui pavilion. The red thread in the park is the theme of the moon. Almost all the attractions of the park are dedicated to it.
