Danbi Bridge

Dongcheng, Beijing, China

Description:

The Danbi Bridge is not really a bridge. This is the main road to the Temple of Heaven, running from the Hall of Prayer for a good harvest. The length of the road is 360 meters long and 30 meters wide. The bridge is called this section of the road because of its location above the ground. The southern part of the road is raised above the ground at a height of 1 meter, and the northern part is 4 meters.

Walking on this road means "step upwards, towards the sky." The road was conditionally divided into three parts. The central path was for the gods, the left for the emperor, and the right for judicial officials.
