Beijing Taoist Baiyun Temple
No.9 Baiyunguan Street, Baiyun Road, Xicheng District, Beijing, China
Description:
Beijing Taoist temple Baiyun is one of the largest and oldest Taoist temples in China. It was built in 739 and was originally called Tianchang Temple. During its centuries-old history, the temple was burned several times and rebuilt. Most of the temple halls we see today were built during the Ming and Qing dynasties.
On the territory of the temple complex there are four halls. Each hall is dedicated to a specific deity: Yuhuang Hall, Laol Hall, Qiuzu Hall and Sanqing Hall. Also on the grounds of the temple is the Wofeng Bridge, built in 1706, although there is no water underneath.
