Beijing Planetarium

138 Xizhimen Outer St, Xicheng, Beijing, China

Description:

The Beijing Planetarium consists of two main buildings.

The first building was built in 1957. At that time, the planetarium was considered the largest not only in China, but also in all of Asia. The old building houses the Heavenly Theatre and two exhibition halls.

In the new modern building of the planetarium, built in the form of a huge parallelepipede, there are two observatories, an exhibition hall, a 3D cinema, a 4D cinema and a space center with a huge curved screen on the ceiling, on which about nine thousand stars are projected, visible to the naked eye in the night sky.

The planetarium also owns an ancient observatory from which the museum is made.
