Bird's Nest Stadium
China, Beijing, Chaoyang, Nanshatan Road, 1号
Description:
Beijing National Stadium has received its famous nickname “Bird’s Nest” due to its incredibly complex design. The stands of the stadium are located on a concrete "bowl", around which there are 24 corporate columns. They "weave" wide steel bars, which in their appearance resemble the nest of a huge bird.
The stadium was built specifically for the 2008 Olympics. From the beginning of the stadium design until the completion of construction, 7 years have passed. Construction was repeatedly stopped due to the high cost of the materials used. The roof of the sports complex consists of complex transparent materials - olitetrafluoroethylene and ethylene tetrafluoroethylene. Thanks to this, sunlight freely enters the audience stands.
