Mentougou Reservoir

Mentougou Reservoir is one of the most beautiful places in Beijing. The nature here is amazing: powerful, green mountains with blooming valleys and water of sky-blue color.

The reservoir appeared in 1958 near the small village of Zhuwo, in the west of Beijing. The reservoir has a second name “Zhitang”, which translates as “pearl”. It got its name because of its unusual color.

On the shore of the reservoir there are ancient buildings and a temple. There are excursions every day.
