Shanghai

One-day excursion in Shanghai

Description:

The Jade Buddha Temple was founded in 1882. From the outside it is easy to recognize the walls of bright saffron color. Inside, the most important is a two-meter statue of Buddha made of white jade.

In the northeastern part of the old Chinatown stretches a vast market area. Its center is the Yuyuan Garden or, otherwise, the Mandarin Garden (Yuyuan Shangchang) and the Temple of the City Gods (Chenghuang Miao). Many tourists consider this one of the most interesting places in Shanghai.

The Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the third tallest in Asia (height 468 meters), the fifth tallest TV tower in the world, one of the main attractions of the Pudong district in Shanghai.

Waitan Embankment is the most famous tourist area in Shanghai. For the sake of preserving historical monuments, high-rise construction is limited. Waitan was one of the sets of Steven Spielberg’s film Empire of the Sun, the first American feature film made in China after World War II.
