Description:

The Church of St. Peter in Shanghai was built on the initiative of the Jesuit monks and was intended for students of the University of Aurora. It happened in 1933. Originally built in the Byzantine style, the building had one central dome and five chapels.

In the 60s, during the Cultural Revolution in China, the authorities confiscated the church, worship ceased, and the building was used as a cultural center. Twenty years later, part of the premises of the cultural center were returned to the Catholic diocese for regular services, and in 1994 the church was fully returned to the faithful.

The church building was renovated in accordance with modern architectural trends in 1995, at the same time bright expressive stained glass windows appeared. Now services are held on the second floor, and the first floor is occupied by a chapel and a conference room. Services are held in several languages: French, English, Chinese and Korean.
