Xujiahui Catholic Church is known as the first building in Shanghai to have such a huge size. It has an area of 6,670 square meters and a height of 79 meters.
Both the architecture of the building and the interior design of the church are completely made in the French Gothic style. All the doors and windows of the church are made in the form of arches and have a sharply pointed curved shape.
The main hall of the church can accommodate up to 2,500 people at a time. It contains 19 altars. On the main altar, located in the center of the back, are carved statues of Jesus and the Madonna, which were made in Paris, and then transported and assembled in Shanghai.
