107号 -135号 He Nan Lu, Huang Pu Qu
Description:
It is without exaggeration one of the most famous parks in the world and one of the most picturesque corners of China. Every day the garden is visited by more than 200 thousand tourists from all over the world.
The construction of the garden began in 1559. The construction was led by the state treasurer Pan Yunduan. He planned that his parents would be able to enjoy the rest in this garden (hence the poetic name). However, he could not complete what he started due to lack of money. The park was completed only in 1577. The appearance that the garden has now, it acquired only in 1956, after a large-scale restoration.
The garden is equipped according to all the canons of South Chinese park art. It consists of 6 parts, each of which has its own characteristics. The garden is decorated with picturesque artificial hills, ponds with goldfish, rare species of plants and trees, stone buildings, bridges and arches of bizarre shape. One of the main attractions of the garden is the 500-year-old magnolia.
