Nanpu Bridge

Nan Pu Da Qiao, Pu Dong Xin Qu, Shanghai, China

Description:

The two-column Nanpu Bridge is a real architectural gem of Shanghai. It is one of the four largest bridges of this design in the world. The main column, 150 meters high, depicts four characters "Nanpu Daqiao", written by Deng Xiaoping. With the construction of the Nanpu Bridge, the dream of Shanghai residents came true to connect the Pudong district with the rest of the city.

The length of the central span of the Nanpu Bridge is 423 meters. This is the second longest suspension bridge. During the design of Nanpu, the Shanghai State Institute of Engineering Projects, which developed technical documentation, used a bridge in Vancouver as a model.

The construction of the bridge became a catalyst for the rapid development of Pudong, a technological breakthrough. It is the pride not only of Shanghai, but of the whole state.
