899号 Ling Ling Lu, Xu Hui Qu, Shanghai, China, 200030

Description:

Construction of the Shanghai Stadium was completed in 1997 and was timed to coincide with the start of the Eighth National China Games. Its stands can accommodate about 80 thousand people at the same time, which is why it is sometimes called the “eighty thousandth stadium”. The stadium in Shanghai is one of the largest stadiums in the world and ranks second in China, second only to the Beijing Stadium.

The stadium in Shanghai was used during the 2008 Summer Olympics - a preliminary round of football competitions was held here. In this regard, for the 2008 Games, the stadium was completely renovated to meet modern requirements. Support structures were strengthened, tribunes and other structures were updated.

Due to the design features of the stadium, it is suitable not only for sports, but also for concerts, theatrical productions and even ballet. The arena is often used for large-scale theater productions, national celebrations and other events.
