Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport SHA
Description:
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport SHA is currently one of the largest airports in China in terms of the number of passengers served and flights performed.
Shanghai Airport has grown around a runway built in 1907. At different times there were British and Japanese military bases, and today the airport is the southern air gate of China.
In 2010, a comprehensive reconstruction of the airport was carried out, including the construction of a new passenger terminal and a second modern runway. Approximately, the capacity of the airport should be enough to provide flights to 40 million passengers per year.
Under China’s new air transport development program, Shanghai is set to become the country’s largest transportation hub focused on domestic flights. In this regard, it is planned to reduce the number of international flights operated from Hongqiao airfield.
