Costa Rica

New Year

Description:

"Ten, nine, eight ..." is very exciting. The national anthem sounds.
The New Year is also very noisy, pops are thundering again, music sounds, drinks are pouring in the river. Costa Ricans don’t drink much, mostly beer. But in this case, there is no more solemnity or ceremony, as at Christmas.

Many celebrate the New Year in hotels or in tents on the beach. The New Year is celebrated under the radio: the radio station "Radio-Reloh" (radio clock) begins to count the seconds. The announcer announces, "Ten minutes left!", then, "Three minutes left!" and then, "Ten, nine, eight..." is very exciting. The national anthem sounds.

After twelve people do not sit at the table, but immediately go outside and start running from house to house, congratulating neighbors and friends.
