Visiting the king of fantasies Baron Munchausen.

Description:

More than two hundred years ago, Rudolf Erich Raspe wrote an immortal parody of fantasists and boasters - a book about the adventures of Baron Munchausen.

Many people claim that Munchausen is the most truthful man in the world. You can confirm or deny this statement yourself by visiting the Duntes estate, where Baron Munchausen at the age of 285 finally returned at the age of 32 May 2005, because it was on this day that the Baron Munchausen Museum was opened. Visiting the museum you will plunge into the atmosphere of the stories of the witty baron.

The six happiest years of his life, Munchausen and his wife Jacobina spent in Riga and Dunta, where he experienced dizzying adventures. The inhabitants of Dunte have a legend how the baron became an inexhaustible merryman and fantasist. In those days, the chickens in Dunte did not lay eggs, this was done exclusively by roosters. It is well known that one who eats eggs from cock eggs will not know the limits of his imagination. It is this dish that the Dundeans served to the table of the baron, a passionate lover of scrambled eggs.

On the second floor of the museum you will see wax figures. Not only the Munchausen couple, but also many famous people of the past and present: Duke Jekab, President of Latvia Karlis Ulmanis, composer Raymond Pauls, actress Via Artmane and many others, as well as see a collection of beer mugs that were collected around the world and today there are more than 2000 of them. Connoisseurs of outdoor activities can walk along the forest trail of Munchausen and feel like a participant in the adventures of Munchausen, examining the images embodied in wooden sculptures. Small visitors have a great opportunity to try their hand at the Munchausen amusement ship.

In addition to the excursion at will and for a fee, you can visit the resort town of Saulkrasty, stretching for 17 km along the Vidzeme coast of the Gulf of Riga, climb the White Dune, one of the most beautiful coastal dunes of Latvia, from where you can enjoy beautiful sea views. See Lipa Katrina, who according to legend planted the Russian Empress Catherine the Second.
