The Romance of the Road to the Sea: Kolka, Roya, Slitere, Dundaga
Description:
The trip is dedicated to the romantic coast of the Gulf of Riga and the Baltic Sea.
We travel from fishing villages - Lapmezciems, Ragaciems to Cape Kolka, where the Great and Small sea meets. This is what locals call the Baltic Sea and the Gulf of Riga. In Ragaciems sell the most delicious and fresh fish on the coast.
Plienciems (where Empress Elizaveta Alekseevna bathed) and Mersrags (where stories about local werewolves are still told). Here, on the coast, the film “The Long Road in the Dunes” was filmed.
Roya is a paradise for fishermen, famous for its beach with amazingly white sand and ancient mole. In Roy you can have lunch in one of the cozy restaurants.
“On the Kolka winds pins”, – such impressions take travelers with them from the famous cape near the Irben Strait. A walk to the meeting place of the waves of the bay and the sea will bring true pleasure to lovers of romance! The most courageous are unlikely to be frightened by the wind, because we will see how the waves “fight”!
Next, the road will lead us to the foot of the Blue Mountains in Slitera, where you can climb the strangest lighthouse of the Latvian coast. In good weather, the Estonian island of Saaremaa is visible through binoculars.
The way back lies through Dundaga with the ancient castle and crocodile "Dandy" and the city of nine hills Talsi. These are the most cozy places of Kurzeme, about which many legends are composed!
