Fountain in Basteikalls Park

Walking through Riga Basteikals Park, among artificial waterfalls, decorative ponds with bridges you can also see an interesting sculptural fountain.

In the center of a round pool with water, on a high stone pedestal, a sculpture of a naked mermaid girl is installed. Long, wavy hair beautifully curls over her shoulders, with both hands she holds a huge shell on her head, from which water pours. The girl is surrounded by the figures of four little boys. They are captured in different playing poses and sit on large fish, a turtle, from whose mouths jets of water escape.

Around the fountain there are many beautiful flower beds, trees, under which comfortable benches are installed, there are always many resting citizens and tourists. In the evening, this place and the entire Basteikalls Park are illuminated by the original lanterns.
