Latvia, Riga, Gobas 19

Description:

The Catholic Church of St. Mary in Bolderai is one of many ancient temples located in Riga. It was built on May 18, 1908 with the donations of volunteers, and on August 24 it was consecrated. Two priests of the local parish ruled here, their sermons were held in Polish, Latvian and Lithuanian, which helped to significantly increase the number of parishioners. The building was designed by the famous architect Friesendorfs, 9000 rubles were collected for its construction. In 1969, during a thunderstorm, the wooden tower was destroyed, after which a new tower was built, also made of wood, but with a metal frame. The building itself has a rectangular shape, the windows in it are quite narrow and are made in the form of arches. The central tower is installed above the main entrance, its top is crowned by a strict gilded cross.
