Bastion Hill Park

Brī vī bas iela, Rī ga, LV-1050

Description:

Park "Bastion Hill" appeared in the XIX century on the site of old protective structures. Thanks to the decision of the authorities to demolish the fortress ramparts and 14 bastions in the center of the city there was a lot of free space, most of which was decided to turn into a recreation area. And very quickly this area became a favorite place of citizens.

The first "Bastion Hill" fell in love with the healers who attributed to it in the middle of the last century medicinal properties. In 1887, a cafe appeared on the top of the slide, and from its windows opened a beautiful view of the city. In the same year, the area near the park was ennobled - trees were planted, walking paths were made.

By the end of the century, artificial waterfalls appeared in the park. And this place gained its final appearance only in the middle of the last century, when the last reconstruction of this park was carried out.
