Seaport
Description:
The seaport in Riga, the capital of Latvia, is located on the Baltic Sea at the mouth of the Daugava River and has a rich history. The first mention of it goes back centuries - to the beginning of the XIII century. However, its modern appearance owes to Soviet times. At the beginning of the XX century it was the largest port in Russia in terms of export trade.
During World War II, the port was badly damaged and rebuilt after the war in the Soviet spirit. There are a large number of towering cranes that unload and load container ships. There is a shipyard on its territory.
