Dauderi Museum of Culture in Latvia

sarkandaugavas street 30, Riga, LV - 1005

About the company:

The Latvian Museum of Culture Dauderi was opened in 1990. It is located in Riga, in the Sarkandaugava district, and is one of the most important museums in the collection of rare museums. Most of the exhibits are related to the history of Latvia and were kindly provided by patron Gaidis Graudins, who lived in Latvia. Among the gifts are many exhibits related directly to the history of Latvia.

The building of the museum, commissioned by A. von Binger, was built in an eclectic manner, in 1898, by the famous architect of that time - Friedrich Seiberlich. You will see the features of the Neo-Renaissance, in the style of which the mansions of France and Holland were erected. Rooms and rooms are carefully decorated using valuable wood. In the park, planned by landscape architect Georg Friedrich Kufaldt, according to the fashion of that time, artificial ruins are arranged. It is named after Johann Dowder, the founder of the brewery.

Before the museum was located in the building, it served as the office of the Credit Bank, was the country residence of Karlis Ulmanis, the President of Latvia, and during the USSR there was a kindergarten. And only in 1990, the museum moved to the mansion, the collection of which has 6500 exhibits. In January 2010, the museum joined the National History Museum of Latvia.
