About the company:

You can see paintings radiating music in the museum named after the famous Lithuanian artist and composer M.K. Ciurlionis. In 1921, it was opened as a modest gallery, later the exposition grew and turned into a full-fledged museum, which was called the Vitovt Museum of Culture. In 1944, the institution was named after Churlionis. Here is collected the most complete collection of paintings of the artist, kept his diaries, letters, essays. Receiving aesthetic pleasure from painting, you can simultaneously listen to the sonatas of Ciurlionis, which sound from the music hall, also located in the museum.

The world of Ciurlionis is a special world, sometimes a little naive, sometimes sad and funny at the same time. Here, the top and bottom change places, there is no force of gravity and ships soar into the clouds, and at the bottom of the sea there is a small village. Ciurlionis can be scary during the day and safe at night. He has his own special mirror. Through paintings, the artist created his world, fantastic, not biblical.

I’m going to work on it for the rest of my life, as long as I have new ideas. It is a creation that is different from the Bible. It's a different, fantastic world. I would like to paint at least a hundred paintings for this cycle..., Ciurlionis wrote to his brother.

Meanwhile, there was a place in the museum for the works of other masters. Here is a beautiful collection of wooden sculpture and painting of the last century. There are items brought from other countries and representing different eras, the museum stores crafts of folk art, the oldest of which belong to the XV century.

Today, the museum’s collection includes over 330,000 exhibits.
