Lithuania, Kaunas, L. Zamenhofo gatve 12

About the company:

The Povilas Stulga Folk Instruments Museum is located in the center of the old town of Kaunas and was first opened on April 26, 1985. It is the first and only museum of folk musical instruments in Lithuania.

Named after the famous Lithuanian musician and folklorist, the museum is absolutely charming, and not even because of the exhibits - more than 7000 wind and string things, but thanks to smiling and amiable aunts-watchers, many of whom own the game on the instruments presented here. The rich collection includes pipes, whistles, horns, gramophones, flutes, accordions, harmonies (a type of organ) decorated with bird feathers, which were played and played by folklore groups of Lithuania. Initially, it was a museum of only Lithuanian folk musical instruments: strings, wind, which are used in the performance of traditional national music. But since 1985 in its exposition you can see musical instruments from many countries of the world. The museum has seven thousand musical instruments, musical recordings, literature about music, posters, photographs, letters and documents.
